The Resort is widely known for its cool weather all year round, and thick mountain fog, (even in broad daylight!), that quietly crawls the lush greenery amidst tall Pine trees and wild flowers surrounding the entire area, making it a popular getaway for family outing.

San Pedro Cathedral

San Pedro Cathedral is not only the oldest church in Davao City, but also the city's premier historical landmark. It was named after San Pedro (Saint Peter), the patron saint of Davao. The original structure was built in 1847 during the arrival of the Spanish Conquistadors, led by Don Jose Uyanguren. The Cathedral is situated at the very heart of the city right across the Sanguniang Panglunsod ng Dabaw (City Council) Building, and is close to several commercial establishments, hotels, shopping centers, universities, parks, a public market, etc.  Facing the church, it is bounded at the front by San Pedro Street, the oldest street in the city, Bolton Street on the left, and Claveria Street on the right. The San Pedro Cathedral is now recognized as a National Cultural Treasure. This magnificent Spanish-style architecture with its distinctive modern design frontal-curved solid structure was first built using nipa and bamboo in 1847 and was subsequently rebuilt in wood in the mid 1900s by the late Architect Ramon Basa until it was finally remodelled in concrete in 1964 by Architect Manuel Chiew.
Japanese Tunel in Davao City
Along the Diversion Road in Davao City, there is a Japanese tunnel that dates back during the World War II. The tunnel was carved out of the hilly section of Matina Balusong, west of the city by Davao Prisoners of War in 1942. The tunnel was used by the Japanese as a hide-out, and as a means of transporting their equipment and mobilizing their forces against the American liberating army. It was accidentally discovered by the owners of the land while constructing a hotel. They were excavating the area when they uncovered damp passageways and rooms underneath the land, and soon discovered that those were tunnels used by the Japanese soldiers during the war.

The owners decided then to name the place D' Japanese Tunnel Family Resort, which is now a hotel, a restaurant, and has since become one of the major tourist attractions in Davao City.
Davao International Airport

the Davao International Airport, formerly known as Francisco Bangoy International Airport, is Mindanao's international gateway to countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, and Indonesia; and to the rest of the Philippines: Cebu, Zamboanga, and Manila. It is the busiest airport in Mindanao.

History

The old Francisco Bangoy International Airport began its operations in the 1940s, and were in use until 2003. The land in which the airport is situated ( Barangay Sasa, Buhangin district of Davao City ), was donated by Francisco Bangoy, a patriarch of an influential family residing in the city. At the time it began its operations, the airport merely consisted of a 1,200-meter unpaved, grassy runway and Quonset huts serving as terminal buildings. And throughout much of the 1940s and 1950s, both Philippine Airlines and the Philippine Air Force provided air service to the city.

Victoria Plaza Mall

Victoria Plaza Mall was built in the 1990's and is one of the earlier malls in Davao City. It is located along J. P. Laurel Avenue, Bajada, Davao City. It has a gross land area of 81,000 sqm. The two-story mall has a supermarket, a department store, a hardware store, and a cinema. The mall may be old and a bit dilapidated, here and there, but it still remains today a favorite hang-out of locals, and will always have a very special place in my heart.
